About Dr. William Clare
"I seek open communication with patients, explaining their disease processes, what medications they need and why we are using them to engage them in shared decision-making about their health and well-being."
A board-certified and broadly experienced internal medicine specialist, William P. Clare Jr., M.D., works with his patients to prevent, diagnose and treat acute and chronic illness. He views preventive care as paramount to improving overall well-being and addresses it at every patient visit.
Areas of Expertise
- Preventive care – Check-ups, immunizations, tests and screenings used to prevent serious diseases and medical conditions or to detect them before they become major problems.
- Hypertension – Elevated blood pressure that over time can cause the heart to work overtime and pump harder, possibly leading to heart attack, stroke, heart failure or kidney failure.
- Diabetes – A chronic condition characterized by abnormally high levels of glucose, or sugar, in the blood that affects how the body turns food into energy and can cause damage to the heart, nerves, kidneys or eyes.
- High cholesterol – Elevated levels of cholesterol, or fatty deposits, in the blood that can limit blood flow and increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.
- Palliative and hospice care – Individualized care to ease symptoms and stress and improve quality of life for patients living with a serious illness or condition and their families.
