A board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Tempest Allen cares for patients in every stage of womanhood, drawing from her passion for obstetrics and experience with robot-assisted gynecological surgery. With a particular affinity for menopause management, Dr. Allen sees patients at Beaufort Memorial Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists locations in Beaufort and Okatie.

Areas of Expertise

• Endometriosis — A condition where tissue similar to uterine tissue grows in other areas of the pelvis, sometimes causing pain and infertility.
• Menopause Management — The treatment of menopause with hormone and non-hormone therapies, education and lifestyle changes.
• Pelvic Reconstruction — Reconstructive surgery that restores female anatomy and function, improving a patient’s quality of life.
• Infertility — The inability to achieve a successful pregnancy after one year of attempting to conceive.
• Robot-Assisted Surgery — Gynecologic surgeries using the da Vinci Surgical System which, due to high-definition imaging, greater precision and dexterity, benefits patients with smaller incisions, less discomfort and quicker recovery.

Background

Dr. Allen knew that her calling was medicine from a young age. In high school, she had the unique opportunity to shadow a local OBGYN physician in her hometown in southern Ohio, and she even helped deliver a baby at age 16. Her mother, a single mom and pediatric nurse, motivated her daughter to go to medical school.

Her extensive training in all areas of women’s healthcare allowed her to begin her career in Akron, Ohio, followed by an established, 25-year tenure at Bronson Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialists in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Dr. Allen, her husband Jaime and their chocolate labs love the sunshine and southern charm of the Lowcountry, and enjoy exploring the history and culture of the area.
