Dr. Patrick Lazarczyk works with patients to prevent, diagnose and treat gastrointestinal and digestive system disorders at Beaufort Memorial Lowcountry Medical Group Specialty Care. Board-certified in internal medicine, he specializes in performing routine and complex GI procedures, treating conditions of the esophagus, colon and stomach and preventing acute and chronic GI disease.

Areas of Expertise

• Gallbladder Disease — Any condition that affects the gallbladder or the ducts that carry bile from the gallbladder to the intestine, including gallstones, bile duct stones and acute cholecystitis.
• GI Cancer Prevention and Treatment — Prevention and treatment of any cancer that affects the digestive system, including colorectal, esophageal, liver or pancreatic cancer.
• Chronic GI Conditions — Chronic disorders that cause inflammation and other symptoms of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
• Colorectal Cancer — Cancer that either affects the first five feet of the large intestine (colon) or the final six inches (rectum).
• Colonoscopy and Upper Endoscopy — Examinations that use a long, flexible tube with a light on the end to look for growths and other abnormalities in the large intestine and rectum (colonoscopy) and the esophagus, stomach and small intestine (upper endoscopy).

Background

Dr. Lazarczyk grew up around medicine, with an internal medicine specialist for a mother and a gastroenterologist for a father. Their careers – and his early exposure to gastroenterology – ultimately inspired him to follow a similar path.

The Chicago native shadowed several gastroenterologists as a teen before pursuing medical training in Michigan, earning his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency in 2023 and most recently served as a gastroenterology fellow at Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, Mich., before joining the Lowcountry medical community to expand GI care in the region.

Dr. Lazarczyk enjoys a wide range of sports, including hockey, baseball, soccer and golf, as well as cooking and films. A passionate traveler, he has visited about 80% of Europe.
