Beaufort Memorial Welcomes Gastroenterologist to Expand Specialty Care

Beaufort Memorial has expanded access to gastroenterology care in the Lowcountry by adding board-certified, fellowship-trained specialist Dr. Patrick Lazarczyk, who sees patients in Beaufort.

Dr. Lazarczyk joined Beaufort Memorial Lowcountry Medical Group Specialty Care in early September, where he cares for patients with a range of gastrointestinal and digestive system disorders and focuses on prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Board-certified in internal medicine and board-eligible in gastroenterology, he brings experience performing routine and complex GI procedures, treating common conditions affecting the esophagus, colon and stomach while helping patients prevent and manage acute and chronic GI disease.

A Chicago native, Dr. Lazarczyk grew up around medicine. His mother was an internal medicine specialist, while his father was a gastroenterologist. Their careers and his early exposure to specialty healthcare ultimately inspired him to follow a similar path.

As a teenager, he shadowed several gastroenterologists before completing undergraduate training at the University of Michigan and earning his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an internal medicine residency in 2023 at Ascension Providence Hospital (now Henry Ford Providence Southfield) in Southfield, Mich., where he also completed his gastroenterology fellowship in 2026.

During his final year of residency was elected as House Staff Association President, helping address the needs of residents and fellows with hospital administration before deciding to relocate to the Lowcountry.

One of his favorite aspects of practicing medicine is connecting with patients, building relationships and helping them navigate their health decisions as their partner in care.

"I enjoy building connections with my patients, and I care for them as I would my own family,” Dr. Lazarczyk said. “I want to educate and reassure them the way I would want to treat my own loved ones.”

Outside of medicine, Dr. Lazarczyk is an avid sports fan who enjoys hockey, baseball, soccer and golf. He’s also a passionate traveler and has traveled extensively through Europe.
