A board-certified physician assistant, Nikki Newman brings more than a decade of experience in urgent and primary care to Beaufort Memorial Lowcountry Medical Group Primary Care. She works in collaboration with the practice's board-certified internal medicine specialists and nurse practitioners to prevent, diagnose and treat acute and chronic illness.

Areas of Expertise

• Adult Primary Care — A relationship with a single care provider who takes an active role in maintaining a patient’s optimal health by conducting regular physicals and screenings, providing routine preventive care and managing chronic disease.
• Family Medicine — A branch of medicine delivering primary care to patients of any age, providing preventive care and treatment of a wide range of nonemergency diseases and conditions.
• Hypertension — Elevated blood pressure which can overwork the heart and, if gone untreated, possibly lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure or kidney failure.
• Preventive Care — Routine health care that includes screenings, check-ups and patient counseling to prevent diseases and detect them early, when they may be easier to treat.
• Lifestyle Modification — Altering long-term habits and establishing new behaviors around such things as eating and physical activity.

Mrs. Newman offers virtual visits for patients needing medication checks, standard chronic illness management, sick visits and follow up care for certain conditions. If interested, ask about the option when scheduling.

Background

During the two years prior to joining Lowcountry Medical Group in 2023, Mrs. Newman saw patients at Beaufort Memorial Express Care & Occupational Health in Bluffton.  Earlier, she worked as a physician assistant in several local urgent care clinics and at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, Georgia, treating illness and injury in patients of all ages.

Mrs. Newman received Beaufort Memorial's 2023 Provider of the Year Bemmy Award, an honor bestowed for exemplary performance and adherence to organizational values.

Growing up in Albany, Wisconsin, on a farm that two generations of her family had owned and worked, she has long Midwestern roots. These days, she finds living by the water and the Lowcountry’s gentle pace an irresistible mix.

Mrs. Newman and her husband, Paul, are the proud parents of a son whom they adopted after 21 years of marriage. Mother and son love baking together and sharing their homemade sweets.
