At Beaufort Memorial Urology Specialists, Dr. Meredith Hernandez provides expert care for a wide range of urological conditions, including kidney and bladder stones, enlarged prostate and urological cancers. She also specializes in advanced surgical techniques such as robot-assisted surgical procedures and helps patients manage their sexual health and overall well-being.
Areas of Expertise
- Robotic Cancer Surgery — The use of robotics in urological surgical procedures, including adrenal, bladder, kidney and prostate cancers.
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) — A common non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland which may slow or block the flow of urine.
- Urinary Incontinence — A loss of bladder control resulting in leakage of urine.
- Kidney Stones — Hard deposits of minerals and salts formed in the kidneys that often cause sharp, cramping pain in the back and side when they move within the kidney or pass into one of the ureters.
- Sexual Health — Evaluation and treatment of conditions affecting sexual function and reproductive anatomy in both men and women.

Background
Drawn to medicine from an early age, Dr. Hernandez was inspired by her family’s deep roots in the profession, including both of her grandfathers, who were physicians. She found her calling in urology, which combines her passions for patient education, personalized care and surgery, particularly robot-assisted procedures used to treat a range of urological cancers.
Dr. Hernandez earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tenn., before relocating to the Lowcountry to help meet the region’s growing need for comprehensive urological care.
