About Dr. John Crisologo

Dr. John Crisologo joined Beaufort Memorial Lowcountry Medical Group in 2003. In his practice of gastroenterology, he employs a wide range of traditional and leading-edge methodologies and displays genuine caring for his patients.
Areas of Expertise
- GI Cancer - Any cancer that affects the digestive system, including colorectal, esophageal, liver or pancreatic cancer.
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - Chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract that can cause blood in the stools, stomach pain and weight loss. Two primary types of IBD are Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
- Liver Disorders - Conditions of the liver including hepatitis A, B and C, liver cancer, liver failure and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
- Advanced Endoscopy - The visual examination of the digestive system using advanced equipment in addition to the endoscope.
Background
A fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, he performs more than 1,200 procedures yearly - including esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, gastrostomy tube placements, sigmoidoscopy and video capsule endoscopy - and has performed more than 1,000 advanced endoscopic procedures. Dr. Criosologo brings to his practice broad-based nutritional knowledge is especially useful for bariatric and transplant patients.
He and his wife, Kristina, have three children. When not treating family and friends to his latest kitchen creation, he enjoys photography, music, motorcycles and sailing.
