About Dr. Paul Slota

"I listen to patient concerns and take the time to address them. I’m analytical, decisive and I give everyone the time they need so that I can care for them."

Board certified, fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist Dr. Paul Slota sees patients in Beaufort and Okatie as a physician with Beaufort Memorial Heart Specialists. In addition to diagnosing and treating patients with acute and chronic heart conditions at the practice, Dr. Slota will perform cardiac catheterization procedures at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Areas of Expertise

  • Coronary Artery Disease — Narrowing or blockage of the major blood vessels that supply the heart.
  • Arrhythmia Management — Abnormal electrical conduction (beating) of the heart resulting in irregular, too fast (tachycardic) or too slow (bradycardic) heart rhythms.
  • Heart Failure — Treatment of a chronic condition in which the heart does not pump blood properly.
  • Mitral Valve Prolapse — A condition where the heart’s mitral valve doesn’t close properly.
  • Cholesterol Management — Management of lipids in the blood that can result in heart attack or stroke.

Background

With a career in medicine spanning over three decades, Dr. Slota is no stranger to Lowcountry patients. During his early career, he was a founding physician of Hilton Head Heart and performed cardiac catheterization procedures at St. Joseph’s/Candler in Savannah. He saw patients on the Island for over a decade before relocating to Rock Hill to continue raising his family there.

While upstate, Dr. Slota helped build another practice – Carolina Heart Specialists – as an interventional cardiologist. After almost 20 years, he felt the call to return to the Lowcountry, joining Beaufort Memorial and returning to the region.

Dr. Slota and his wife, Geralyn, enjoy spending time with their four grown children, walking their Yorkie named Mugsy, and being involved with their church community in Bluffton.
