Dr. Mark Bechtel, a board-certified osteopathic physician experienced in the practice of family medicine and urgent care, joined Beaufort Memorial Express Care & Occupational Health in 2020 following three years at CaroMont Urgent Care in Gastonia, North Carolina.
At the Express Care clinic in Beaufort, Dr. Bechtel treats patients with acute, non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. He also provides health services to employees of businesses participating in Beaufort Memorial’s Well at Work program.
Dr. Bechtel began his medical career in a primary care clinic in Pennsylvania before moving in 2006 to CaroMont Family Medicine in Lake Wylie, South Carolina. For nine years he volunteered at a free health care clinic for low-income families in nearby Clover, and he has participated in medical missions to Honduras, Peru, Haiti and Jamaica.
Earlier, Dr. Bechtel practiced in his hometown of Oley, Pennsylvania, while volunteering as a clinical instructor at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, his alma mater.
He and his wife, Christine, are the parents of two boys. Among his leisure interests are running; physical fitness; reading, especially history and mysteries; and baseball.
