A certified physician assistant, Kristen Vestigo brings widely ranging experience in urgent care and family medicine to Beaufort Memorial Express Care & Occupational Health. She treats acute illness and injury in adults and children.
Areas of Expertise
- Primary Care – Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of common illness and promotion of wellness by a health care professional.
- Gynecologic Issues – Minor infections of the female genital or urinary tract, including bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection and cystitis.
- Suturing – Closing a wound or incision with stitches.
- Splinting – Supporting or immobilizing an injured or fractured bone or joint with an orthopedic device.
- Wound Care – Incision and draining of a wound to reduce infection.
Video Visits
Ms. Vestigo offers virtual urgent care visits as well as scheduled video visits for patients needing medication checks, standard chronic illness management, sick visits and follow-up care for certain conditions. If interested, ask about the option when scheduling.
Background
A New Jersey native who grew up on Long Island, N.Y., and in Philadelphia, Ms. Vestigo came to the Lowcountry from FastMed Urgent Care in Statesville, N.C. Since 2019 she had provided family medicine and urgent care services at the practice, among them managing chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, performing annual physicals, suturing lacerations, placing splints, ordering and interpreting laboratory and imaging tests and administering medications and injections. Earlier as a physician assistant, she served at Taylor Hospital Rehabilitation Unit in Ridley Park, Pa., where she rounded daily on patients and addressed their medical concerns as needed.
Ms. Vestigo is devoted to animal welfare. At their property on St. Helena Island, she and her husband, Colin Green, an electrical lineman, plan to expand the horse rescue program they began in North Carolina. She enjoys domestic travel and calls herself “a book nerd.”
