Board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Dr. Cory Messerschmidt specializes in shoulder, hip and knee procedures using the most advanced surgical techniques, working with patients to preserve and maintain joint health. Having fellowship training in sports medicine, he also provides preventive and rehabilitative care to patients who have developed injuries related to physical activity.

He has worked alongside professional sports teams such as the Atlanta Falcons and NCAA teams like Georgia Tech. He has also worked with high school athletes as a team physician in Georgia.

Volunteering at a hometown emergency room in Virginia with his father while in high school sparked Dr. Messerschmidt's interest in medicine. He knew he had found his calling during college after shadowing an orthopedic surgeon at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Messerschmidt sees patients in Beaufort and Okatie.
