A board-certified family nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nursing science, Jessie Goethie brings a high level of expertise in diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses in adult patients. The Beaufort native not only provides preventive care, screenings, and sick care, she also helps her Direct Primary Care patients navigate affordable options for prescriptions, diagnostics, and specialty care.
Areas of Expertise
- Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – Elevated blood pressure; a common condition in which the heart has to work harder than normal to pump blood throughout the body. Though it requires treatment, hypertension often has no symptoms.
- Diabetes – A chronic condition characterized by abnormally high levels of glucose, or sugar, in the blood that affects how the body turns food into energy and can cause damage to the heart, nerves, kidneys, or eyes.
- Hyperlipidemia (High Cholesterol) – Also known as high cholesterol, excess levels of unhealthy lipids, or fats, in the blood that can result in heart attack or stroke.
- Smoking Cessation – Providing prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment services for individuals with an unhealthy use of nicotine products.
- Hypothyroidism – Providing prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment services for individuals with an unhealthy use of nicotine products.

Ms. Goethie offers virtual visits for patients needing medication checks, standard chronic illness management, sick visits, and follow-up care for certain conditions. If interested, ask about the option when scheduling.
Background
Prior to joining Beaufort Memorial Direct Primary Care, Ms. Goethie served as a nurse practitioner at Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health in Port Royal. There she treated patients with acute injuries and illnesses, along with a variety of chronic conditions, including endocrine system disorders, metabolic syndrome, HIV, weight management, and more. Previously, she worked for six years as a registered nurse in the emergency department at Beaufort Memorial Hospital (BMH) where she assessed and treated critical care patients of all ages and conditions.
Ms. Goethie, who was born at BMH and volunteered here in high school, also began her nursing career as a medical-surgical registered nurse at BMH in 2009.
When not working, you’ll find Ms. Goethie gardening, traveling, or spending time with her friends, family, and cocker spaniel.
