Why Beaufort Memorial: Employees in Their Own Words

You Shine Through Award Winner Being CelebratedHospitals are only as good as the people who staff them. At Beaufort Memorial, we take that responsibility seriously. Every member of our team brings a can-do attitude to our collaborative approach to care. From physicians, nurses and medical assistants to laboratory technicians, clerical staff, nutrition aides and housekeeping services, everyone makes a difference.

Because every team member contributes to providing excellent patient care, we strive to provide a supportive workplace with opportunities for advancement, flexible schedules and generous benefits. And although many of our employees are South Carolina natives, many others have moved from afar to enjoy the Lowcountry lifestyle, but that’s not the only reason.

If you want to know what else makes Beaufort Memorial such a special place to work, our employees are happy to tell you what life is like behind their identification badges. Here’s why some of our team members chose Beaufort Memorial — and why they’re still here.

Shannon and Dean Adams' Story

Dean and Shannon Adams are known for their compassion, dedication and commitment to helping others. In their respective roles at Beaufort Memorial — Dean as a transportation specialist and Shannon as a nurse leader — they consistently go beyond their daily responsibilities to support patients and families in meaningful ways. Their acts of kindness, teamwork and genuine care reflect a deep belief that making a difference in the lives of others is not just part of their jobs, but a calling.

“The Lord brought us here for a purpose and that's to help others," Shannon says. "So, any opportunity that we get to do that, that's what we want to do.”

Monique Salois Blais’ Story

Monique Salois Blais, RN, found her perfect fit on Beaufort Memorial's medical surgical floor. Ask her what she loves and she'll mention the great work environment and how amazing it feels to be living in paradise.

“In our break room at the hospital, we have a lovely view with a window that looks out onto the Beaufort River. I try to sit in there on my breaks and watch the sailboats, and every morning when we have our meetings, we all look out there to see the sunrise over the river,” Monique says.
