About Dr. Glenn Mieszkalski

“I treat every patient as if they were family, tailoring their care to their needs, educating them about their cancer and treatment and making their process as comfortable as possible.”

Board-certified in radiation oncology – and with decades of diverse experience in the field of cancer care – Dr. Glenn Mieszkalski treats a wide range of cancers, including breast, rectal, head, neck, lung and prostate, with external beam radiotherapy at Beaufort Memorial Radiation Oncology in both Beaufort and Okatie.

Areas of Expertise

  • Prostate Cancer — An uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the prostate.
  • Lung Cancer — A malignancy originating in lung tissue, usually in the cells that line the air passages; the two main types, each treated differently, are small cell and non-small cell.
  • Breast Cancer — Cancer that begins in the breast tissue of women and, rarely, men; includes tumors of various types.
  • Rectal Cancer — Cancer that begins in the rectum, the passageway that connects the colon to the anus.
  • Palliation — The use of radiation to help relieve the symptoms and complications of metastatic cancer.

Background

A New Jersey native and longtime Pennsylvania physician, Dr. Mieszkalski developed an early passion for science and patient care, inspired by a family friend who was a pediatrician. After earning his medical degree from Hahnemann University, he transitioned from a focus in internal medicine to radiation oncology, training alongside leading specialists in the field.

Most recently with UPMC Memorial in York, Pa., he has also served in physician and medical director roles across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. At Beaufort Memorial, he is helping broaden access to cancer care throughout the Lowcountry.

Dr. Mieszkalski and his wife enjoy staying active with golf and tennis, and love traveling – they have explored destinations in Europe and throughout the Caribbean with their three children.
