Volunteering
Opportunities
The volunteers have many assignments throughout
the hospital. The volunteer coordinator works closely with
each volunteer to match the skills and interests of the
volunteers with the needs of the hospital to ensure a meaningful
experience for all.
Junior volunteers, who are of high school
age, typically work during their summer vacations and during
holidays. Junior volunteers are given the unique opportunity
to obtain first-hand knowledge and experience working in
the healthcare industry. Many of our junior volunteers
plan to pursue a career in healthcare, while others simply
enjoy the daily interaction with patients and staff.
Service areas and opportunities for volunteers include:
- Admissions volunteers help patients
sign in and provide general information regarding the
hospital to patients, family members and visitors. We
are looking for help in the afternoons, Monday through
Friday.
- BMH main lobby volunteers greet patients
and visitors, provide directions and general information.
Volunteers also assist on patient floors by transporting
discharged patients to the main lobby for pick up. Volunteers
staff the lobby Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to
4 p.m. We are looking for help during morning
and afternoon shifts.
- BMH volunteer office volunteers receive
work from various departments daily, run errands throughout
the hospital, and assist with discharges. Volunteers
