Imaging Center offers new services
Area doctors and outpatients now have convenient and timely access to the highest quality imaging services at BMH. Located in the Beaufort Medical Plaza, our new outpatient Imaging Center features the latest MRI technology.
The Magnetom Espree Open Bore, 1.5 Tesla MRI is the only one of its kind between Columbia, SC and Jacksonville, FL. The extra large, wide open bore allows patients, who might otherwise not get an MRI of this quality, the ability to get it with ease. In fact, according to Daniel Mock, Director of Imaging Services, we did a study on a man who weighs over 400 pounds it’s first week open, and the results were outstanding. And, because the magnet is so large, the studies are done in a fraction of the time they used to take.
“People who are claustrophobic and children are great candidates for this model,” says Mock, “because the studies are so quick. And, the opening is so large, most studies will allow the head or the feet to be outside.”
According to Mock, doctors are already sending patients over to the new center. And, since it is designated for outpatients, there is less of a wait time.

- CT services on our new Siemens Emotion 16-slice CT scanner
- An enhanced outpatient vascular lab
- Dexa Bone Density testing
- Enhanced outpatient ultrasound services
- Diagnostic radiography (x-ray)
