Our Team Works With You

Diabetes is a complex disease that requires the constant attention of a number of different health care professionals. Through the assistance of funding from the Duke Endowment, Beaufort Memorial Hospital has developed a multidisciplinary team approach to managing diabetes.

The team consists of a certified diabetic educator, physicians, registered dietitians, registered nurses with specialized training in diabetes management, medical social workers, an exercise physiologist and a pharmacist.

Individualized Programs

Diabetes affects each person differently. For that reason, our certified professionals work with you to develop a personalized diet, education plan, and medication and treatment program.

Specialized outpatient programs are available for:

  • Children and teens.
  • Women with gestational diabetes.
  • Adults.
  • Private consultations.
  • Group classes.

  • What is diabetes?
  • Meal planning.
  • Exercise.
  • Foot, skin and dental care.
  • Low blood sugar treatment.
  • Blood glucose monitoring and interpretation of results.
