Community Health Improvement Programs

Beaufort Memorial Hospital established the Community Health Improvement Program (CHiP) in 1998 to address broad community health and wellness needs. Projects included in CHiP are:

Diabetes Care Center

A program of family-centered care for the management of diabetes. For more information, call (843) 522-5560.

Specialized Asthma Services

Programs geared toward asthma education and management, including asthma camps for children, school programs to educate children and teachers about asthma, and the Better Breathers Club for adults with asthma, emphysema and other breathing disorders. For more information, call (843) 522-5781.

Community Health Education Programs

Health fairs, screening programs, hospital-sponsored events with speakers, and a speakers bureau available to existing clubs and organizations. For more information, call (843) 522-5835.

Wellness and Outreach Programs

Offered through the CHiP van, a 50-foot, mobile unit that is available to communities, civic groups, etc. to offer specialized health screenings and provide wellness information throughout Beaufort and Jasper counties. Click here to view a listing of our upcoming health screens.
