Throughout his extensive career,
board-certified orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Mark Dean has
performed more than 14,000 surgeries on pediatric, adult and senior patients.
After graduating from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr.
Dean completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery and followed
with fellowship training in shoulder and knee surgery, and sports medicine at
the renowned Steadman-Hawkins Clinic. With a primary focus on sports medicine
for active patients of all ages, his areas of expertise also include
rehabilitation and surgical reconstruction of shoulder and knee injuries.
Dr. Dean is experienced in elbow, shoulder,
tendon and hip
diagnosis and treatment including minimally
invasive surgery and nonsurgical treatments.
With longtime involvement in sports injury diagnosis and treatment at both the
recreational and professional levels, he is experienced in anterior cruciate
ligament (ACL) and rotator cuff surgeries well as treatment for foot and ankle fractures,
injuries and dislocations. Post-surgery, Dr. Dean helps patients maximize
mobility and function for today’s
demanding, high-activity lifestyles.
Dr. Dean is a sought-after orthopaedic
lecturer and contributor to academic publications including the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review,
and the Handbook of Sports Medicine.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Medical
Association, Hawkins Shoulder Society and Society for Tennis and Sports
