Dr. Erik Baker is an Internal Medicine physician and specializes in the prevention, detection and treatment of illness in adult patients of any age. He is specifically trained to solve diagnostic puzzles and can handle patients who suffer from many different simultaneous conditions. He also seeks to promote wellness (disease prevention and promotion of health). Finally in today's complex medical environment where a patient may be seen by many different surgeons and specialists, an Internal Medicine physician will coordinate and centralize the patient's care.
Dr. Baker comes to Beaufort Memorial from Jamestown, NY, where he has been in private practice since 2000. He and his family have been visiting the area for a number of years and decided to make the move when a position at Bluffton Primary Care came open.
Dr. Baker received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the UPMC Montefiore/Presbyterian Hospitals.
He is an avid cyclist and has already joined a cycling club on Hilton Head Island. Dr. Baker and his wife have two daughters, ages 12 and 8.
