BOARD-CERTIFIED UROLOGIST WILL BE PERFORMING STATE-OF-THE-ART ROBOTIC SURGERY
BEAUFORT, SC - Beaufort Memorial Hospital has welcomed Dr. Michael C. Staley, a board-certified urologist trained in minimally invasive robot-assisted prostate surgery, to its medical staff.
Before moving to the Lowcountry, Dr. Staley was in private practice for 13 years in Asheville, N.C. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he joined Coastal Carolina Urology Group in August.
Dr. Staley is currently the only physician performing robotic prostate cancer surgery in Beaufort County. Performed with Beaufort Memorial’s state-of-the-art daVinci Si Surgical System, the surgery offers patients a faster recovery with less pain.
In addition to treating prostate cancer, he provides diagnosis and treatment of other urologic disorders and diseases in both men and women, including kidney stones and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
“We are delighted to have a physician with Dr. Staley’s experience join the medical staff at Beaufort Memorial,” said hospital President & CEO Rick Toomey. “His exceptional skills and background will complement those of both his partners and the other physicians practicing at BMH as we continue to meet the healthcare needs of our community.”
Dr. Staley, who grew up in Columbia, earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of South Carolina, an M.B.A. from Georgia State University and an M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. After graduating in 1994, he interned at Medical Center Hospital in Burlington, Vt. then completed a residency in urology at MUSC, where he served as chief resident.
