Health Risks

Women face unique health risks. With common problems that include menstrual disorders, fibroids, infertility, high-risk pregnancy, ovarian cancer, menopause and osteoporosis, women must be vigilant about knowing their family medical history, their level of risk and any bodily changes that may be occurring.

Know Your Risk

Take our BreastCancerAware risk assessment to evaluate your current risk level. Or review guidelines that can help you protect your health if yours is at risk because of any of the following:

  • High cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes, which increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Missed annual reproductive exams, mammograms and cancer screenings.
  • Dense breasts, where cancer can blend in with fibrous breast tissue.
  • Smoking or exposure to second-hand smoke.
  • Out-of-control stress that can affect your well-being and immune system.
  • Loss of bone strength and density for women who are post-menopausal or over the age of 50— especially Caucasian or Asian women.
