LifeFit Baby University

Building Skills for Parents-to-Be and New Parents

LifeFit’s Baby University can answer your questions and prepare you for the challenges you’ll face before and after your baby arrives. We recommend attending classes between the seventh and eighth months of pregnancy.

Three classes: Prepared Childbirth, Learning About Your Newborn, Breastfeeding
An instructor-led course that is designed to guide you and give you the knowledge you need as you begin labor at home, progress to a hospital setting, and finally return home with your new baby as a family.

GIFT OF MOTHERHOOD CLASS 1: Designed to help you create a realistic and comprehensive birth plan based on your own preferences. Natural childbirth methods, stages of labor and what to expect in the hospital labor room will be explored as well as use of pain management techniques and how your birth partner can help support you in labor. Offered the first Wednesday of each month.
GIFT OF MOTHERHOOD CLASS 2: Learn how to care for your new baby and yourself in the first hours and weeks after birth; includes the opportunity to talk with a local pediatrician. This class will help to ease your transition from hospital to home as a family. Dad's role in this important time is also explored. Offered the second Wednesday of each month.
GIFT OF MOTHERHOOD CLASS 3: How you choose to feed your baby is a major decision! This class will help you to plan and implement the nourishment of your child from birth on. Breastfeeding is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. Beginning your breastfeeding experience well and learning how your body works with your growing baby and what to expect in the first weeks and months will take much of the guess-work and anxiety out of this important choice. Offered the third Wednesday of each month.
When: First three Wednesdays of each month, 6 – 8 p.m.
Where: Beaufort Medical Plaza, 3rd floor classroom (350-C), 989 Ribaut Road, Beaufort
