Dr. Charles Shissias, who joined the newly renamed Beaufort Memorial Lowcountry Medical Group in 2009, specializes in neurology and psychiatry. Among his professional interests are the treatment of movement disorders; migraine and atypical headaches; and EMG/EEG/Nerve Conduction studies.
A former member of the State Medical Ethics Subcommittee of the South Carolina Medical Association, Dr. Shissias also has been an instructor of neurology for psychiatry interns at Tulane University and a clinical instructor of neuropsychiatry and behavioral science at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
While in medical school, he served as a medical volunteer at Interfaith Crisis Ministry Shelter. As an undergraduate at Washington and Lee University, he was a senior editor of the school’s Journal of Science.
Dr. Shissias is a first-degree black belt in tae kwon do. He and his wife, Marlo, who is a pediatrician, have two children.
