Biography

Board certified spine specialist Dr. Scott Strohmeyer has more than 22 years of experience and holds noted expertise in evaluation and treatment of adult and pediatric spinal disorders. After graduating with honors from Auburn University, Dr. Strohmeyer received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama where he also completed his orthopaedic surgery residency. He completed fellowship training in spine surgery at Louisiana State University.   

Dr. Strohmeyer’s clinical interests include spinal disorders, with particular emphasis in conservative, nonsurgical treatments, which allow patients to maintain active lifestyles. His patients seek relief from back pain, neck pain or deformities; sciatica; and, herniated lumbar, thoracic or cervical discs. When surgical treatment is indicated, Dr. Strohmeyer utilizes advanced, minimally invasive techniques that can shorten post-surgery recovery. His treatment options include cervical or lumbar disc replacement; spinal fusion, kyphoplasty; X-Stop Interspinous Spacer; anterior spinal surgery; and eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF).

A sought-after educator, Dr. Strohmeyer is a reliable instructor of new advances in spinal care and emerging surgical techniques to fellow physicians. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a member of the North American Spine Society, and the South Carolina Spine Society.
