Dr. Blocker grew up in the Lowcountry and is an avid outdoorsman.  The son of a Methodist minister, he grew up in Charleston and knew he wanted to be an orthopaedic surgeon from the age of 7.  He was very close to both of his grandfathers, one of whom was chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at the Medical University of South Carolina, and the other who was a carpenter.

"I like working with my hands and using them to help solve my patients' problems," he says.  "Orthopaedic surgery is right up my alley."

His training included extensive exposure to total joint replacements, sports medicine, trauma and hand surgery.  He also received additional training in pediatric orthopedics at the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Greenville Unit.

In 1986, Dr. Blocker met his wife, Tami, while earning his undergraduate degree from Wofford. They now have a son and two daughters.

He has been practicing orthopaedic surgery in Beaufort since the start of his career in 1998, and his special interests include total knee and hip replacement surgery.  He keeps abreast of the latest techniques in his field, including minimally invasive and custom-fit total joint replacement surgery.

Dr. Blocker is a talented orthopedic surgeon who is always looking for better ways to treat his patients.  Get to know Dr. Blocker better through the video below and his patient's testimonial.
