About Dr. Jonathan Briggs

Dr. Jonathan Briggs, a board-certified radiation oncologist with 16 years’ experience in cancer treatment, joined Beaufort Memorial Keyserling Cancer Center in 2016.

He came to the Lowcountry from Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J., where he was for 14 years director of the Department of Radiation Oncology. Earlier, he was in practice at Virginia Radiation Oncology Associates in Richmond.

Well known by patients and colleagues alike for his warmth, kindness and empathetic care, Dr. Briggs has a particular interest in the treatment of breast, lung, prostate and skin cancers and in cancer research as well. His research projects have ranged in focus from Tcell lymphoma of the breast to the use of alternative and complementary medicine during radiation.

Dr. Briggs and his wife, Michele, have two sons and a daughter and are expecting a fourth child. He enjoys swimming, volunteering at charity events and following the fortunes of the New York Mets with his boys. He looks forward to spending lots of time outdoors with his family and teaching his children to fish and boat.

Beaufort Memorial Keyserling Cancer Center provides a full range of cancer services, including medical and radiation oncology, hematology, an infusion center, a tumor board, care navigation, clinical trials, cancer screenings, a resource library and several support groups. A team of compassionate experts—among them primary care specialists, surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists and pathologists—work together and with their patients to determine the best, most effective treatments and to coordinate care.

Dr. Briggs is currently scheduling patients for radiation oncology appointments. He accepts most medical health insurance plans, including commercial insurance, Medicare and Tricare.
