Beaufort Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in SC to have an affiliation with Duke. Currently, Beaufort Memorial has affiliations with Duke in the areas of heart and cancer care.

Recently Duke thoracic surgeon Thomas D’Amico, M.D., spent time at BMH consulting with physicians about minimally invasive lung cancer surgery. Simultaneously, Duke cardiologists Drs. Jimmy Tcheng and Michael Sketch collaborated with BMH cardiologists as part of Duke’s annual quality review of our heart services, calling the program “top notch.” And, soon Duke urologist David Albala, M.D., will consult with local physicians about the benefits of robotics in prostate surgery.
