Dr. Burrus joined the medical staff of Beaufort Memorial Hospital in 1993 after completing a surgical residency and plastic surgery fellowship. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Burrus has served as chief of surgery and as the medical director of Breast Services at Beaufort Memorial. The primary focus of his practice has been the surgical management of breast disease.
Dr. Burrus is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and works in collaboration with the Keyserling Cancer Center as well as Duke University to provide the most up-to-date techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. He is skilled to treat a broad array of surgical needs, both major and minor. He is trained in the latest options for surgery, including minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures including the following:
