BEAUFORT, SC – Beaufort Memorial’s LifeFit Wellness Services will offer the American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking program beginning this month. The course will be taught by a certified Freedom From Smoking instructor from the Beaufort County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Department.
Classes will be held evenings 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and there are two quit series available. One 8-class series will be held on Tuesdays, beginning January 29 through March 12 with an extra support session to be offered on Thursday, February 21—two days after “quit day.” The second quit series will be held Mondays, beginning February 25 through April 8 with an extra support session offered Wednesday, March 20.
In the first three classes, participants will: Examine their own patterns of smoking; Learn how to handle triggers and urges; Receive training on stress management techniques.
Participants will receive a Freedom From Smoking workbook, a relaxation CD and helpful handouts.
