Beaufort Memorial Hospital 2011 Most Wired Hospital
Beaufort Memorial Hospital has been named to the nation’s Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals in the U.S., according to the results of the 2011 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study released today in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.
While this is Beaufort Memorial’s 9th consecutive year to make the Top 100 Most Wired list for Small & Rural Hospitals, this is the second time that the hospital has been named in the Top 100 in the Nation, which includes large hospitals and academic medical centers.

BMH invests in bedside medication

The familiar bar code scanning system used
at your local grocery store has become the latest technology
being adopted by hospitals to improve patient safety. At
Beaufort Memorial Hospital—one of only a handful of
South Carolina health care providers to have implemented
the system—scanning devices are now being used at the
bedside to help ensure patients receive the proper medication. “We
dispense a million doses of drugs a year,” said Susan
Converse, a staff pharmacist at the 197-bed hospital.
